Jairzinho Rozenstruik to represent Suriname at 'UFC 244' in New York


Suriname has one representative at “UFC 244.” He is undefeated mixed martial artist Jairzinho “Bigi Boy” Rozenstruik, 31.

Hailing from Paramaribo, Suriname, Rozenstruik is putting his undefeated record on the line again. The Surinamese MMA fighter is one of the 24 MMA fighters on the “UFC 244” fight card, which featured 12 MMA bouts.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold “UFC 244” at the Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, United States on November 2, 2019. In the fourth match of the evening, Rozenstruik will compete in the heavyweight division against actor and MMA veteran Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski, 40, of Minsk, Belarus.

Born in Paramaribo on March 17, 1988, Rozenstruik was the first ever Surinamese MMA fighter to compete in the UFC. In his promotional debut, he replaced fellow undefeated fighter Dmitriy "Wicked Machine" Sosnovskiy, 30, of Moscow, Russia as the opponent of Junior "Baby" Albini, 28, of Paranagua, Parana, Brazil at "UFC on ESPN+ 2" on February 2, 2019 at the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil.

Rozenstruik needed only 54 seconds in the first round to earn his first UFC victory. He knocked out Albini via punches and kicks.

On June 22, 2019, Rozenstruik  earned his second UFC victory at "UFC on ESPN+ 12." He knocked out Allen Crowder in just 9 seconds in the first round via jab to ground and pound at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, USA.

Winning at "UFC on ESPN+ 12" improved the professional MMA record of Rozenstruik to 8 wins and 0 loss. “UFC 244” marks his third bout in the UFC.

On the other hand, Rozenstruik is the 30th opponent of Arlovski in the UFC. The Belarusian contender has been competing in the promotion since 2000.

Arlovski holds a professional MMA record of 28 wins, 18 losses, 0 draw and 2 No Contests. He became the interim UFC Heavyweight Champion on February 5, 2005 and was promoted to the undisputed champion on August 12, 2005.

On April 15, 2006, Arlovski lost the UFC Heavyweight Championship title to Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia, 45, of Maine, USA. The two competed four times in the UFC.

Headlining “UFC 244” are welterweight contenders  Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, 34, of Miami, Florida, USA and Nate Diaz, 34, of Stockton, California, USA. They will compete to the BMF belt, which will be presented by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, 47.
